Kantri (2008)

Enters our hero, Kranthi (NTR), who flexes his muscles, shakes his leg and gets into the gang of PR to earn money for his orphanage, where he grew up (he’s orphaned at a very young age). Kranthi falls in love with Varalakshmi (Hansika Motwani) who is such a lucky girl (this part is copied from a Hollywood movie ‘Just My Luck’ starring Lindsay Lohan) that she wins a foreign trip, a house and household gadgets for her family. Varalakshmi initially does not like Kranthi. An ambitious Kranthi, meanwhile rises up pretty fast in life and meets PR in Hong Kong. The director takes the audience to believe that Kranthi is PR’s son till the twist in the tale. The story has the usual elements of gang fights and violence.

“Keoma” is directed by Enzo G. Castellari (The New Barbarians/Street Law) and it’s an absolutely brilliant film and one of the best westerns ever made. The cinematography is outstanding with beautiful scenery and there are numerous imaginative and high class scenes. You could say there are influences from Leone and Peckinpah but Castellari has a style all of his own and his talent as a director is showcased to the full here. The action sequences are of the highest quality packed with suspense and violence and are enjoyable and exciting. Franco Nero puts in a great powerful performance in the lead and other cast members include William Berger (Sabata), Olga Karlatos (Zombie), Donald O’Brian (Zombie Holocaust) and Woody Strode.

He comes across Priya (Priyanka Chopra), a beautiful girl from Singapore, who has come there for camping and trekking and falls in love with her. Krrish is left heart broken when she finally has to leave for Singapore. When Sonia, Krrish grandmother (Rekha) sees how lonely he has become, she encourages him to go to Singapore and woo Priya back. Krrish reach Singapore; find it a completely new and fascinating world. He learns fast and adapts to it quickly. He makes new Chinese friends in Singapore and woos Priya. In one of the songs, the atmosphere is that of a carnival where most of the people are wearing masks of different kinds. The song continues into a circus, there a short circuit happens and the tent of the circus catches fire. The circus performers get stranded on top and start screaming for help. Krrish realizes that he can help them. He sees a slightly broken burnt Mask lying on the ground nearby. He dons the mask for hiding his identity and save them in a spectacular manner. This heroic deed makes the ‘Masked Man’ a hero and a nationwide search is launched for this new hero in Singapore.
