The film is a story of a love triangle involving two brothers Anand (Sunny Deol) and Sunil (Apurva Agnihotri) and one girl Nisha (Mahima Chaudhary).Anand sacrifices his love for Nisha and gets her married to brother Sunil. Sunil is killed in an accident leaving behind a pregnant Nisha. Nisha is married off to Anand under family pressure. Till Sunil materialises alive on Karvachauth putting Nisha in a quandry. And a set of villains also put in an appearance to heighten the tension.

KHEL tells the story of two thick friends – Dev Mallya [Suniel Shetty] and Rohan Poddar [Ajay Jadeja]. Dev is a business tycoon who is known to rub shoulders with the rich and famous. ACP Arjun Singh (Om Puri) and his brother-in-law, Tayaji (Dara Singh) are with the police force but when Tayaji is killed on duty Arjun’s family are devastated by his death. His wife Rukmani (Farida Jalal), daughter Kajal (Preity Zinta) and son Rahul are shattered by his death and soon Arjun is fearful that the same person that killed his brother-in-law will come after him or his family.

His new partner, Karan Singh (Sunny Deol) is quite controversial in his methods of getting justice and can at time break the rules. Arjun is also angered about the fact that his daughter has developed a crush for Karan. Soon the city is being terrorized by Gawa Firozi (Jackie Shroff) and his brother Sikander (Mukesh Tiwari). The two officers have to work together to capture stop them.
